Hi! Welcome to LGI and Driftin' Away beach house. We are The McGill Family,  we live 40 mins away but we lived on LGI for 3 years, our youngest child loaded the boat every morning to catch the school bus at the marina. What an experience!  The island is as beautiful as it is challenging but it is so worth it.

Our older adult kids just love returning to fish off the dock, hop in a kayak or paddle with dolphins at the sand bar beach side.

Family grill outs and long walks to find shark teeth, it's a competition with our grandsons!  With the changing tides and gorgeous sunsets, we can always expect the unexpected, yet the relaxed vibe of our home offers respite after a day on the beach. When you stay here, you really are on your own private island to relax, reconnect and rest. The shelling, rare sea glass and summer storms are nature's grandest gifts here on LGI. Turtle season is delicate and cherished, we love to walk early and find new tracks and nest, don't touch! The mother returns to the same nest every season. Our favorite times are early morning and just as the sun sets, wow, it's overwhelmingly beautiful. 

With four adult children and 3 grandsons, it's been a joy to celebrate with them on LGI, busy dates are 4th of July, Memorial Day and Winter Holidays a unique vacation for sure. Fishing for snook and mangrove snapper for dinner and many yummy meals on the porch together just melt our hearts. If you have a boat, hit the sandbar for lots music and parties, or drive to Miller's marina for a lunch.

The island is unique and quirky yet gorgeous! We can help answer all your questions since we've live in, on and around LGI for over 35 years.  While we actually lived on the island, we learned so many wonderful things to share with you.  It's a place to unwind, retreat yet you can manage to work remotely. We also Value your privacy and quiet time during your stay, our neighbors appreciate it too.
